I finally got to meet my baby boy last night! Up until 10:16 pm yesterday I had only seen him in pictures and briefly in the operating room when they held him up over the curtain. Today the nurses said they will get me into a wheelchair to go to the NICU to see him if he stays there. He is doing great though, the pediatrician says all of the labs are coming back neg. and if they are still negative today, Sam can stay in the room with me. Anyway...his nurse unhooked him and snuck him in for 4 minutes last night so I finally got to hold him! He is beautiful, and he was sleeping soundly.
Visitors Update:
Because Sam will still be spending some time in the NICU, doctors have asked us to limit visitors. We appreciate everyone's well-wishes, but please don't come visit right now. The doctors are saying that if Sam's tests come back okay today, they will discharge us tomorrow. Then, everyone is welcome to come visit at the house. Thanks again for well-wishes and support.

Our Two Babies
While I sit here in the hospital, I'm playing around with Google's Picasa program. Here's a collage of our two babies on their respective birthdays.
And here are some more pictures of our little boy today. He had a rough start to the day, but he's getting much better.

Sam Has Arrived
At 8:45 this morning, we finally got to meet our little boy! He was born 7 lbs. 3 oz. 19.75 inches long. Sam made his way into the world kicking and screaming...lots of screaming.
Here is what he looked like fresh from momma's belly:
Overall, he and Jennifer are doing fine. Sam is having some slight complications that are normal for babies that are born by C-Sections. He had low oxygen levels and some trouble breathing due to the amount of fluid in his stomach and lungs. Apparently, all babies have this fluid in their stomach and lungs, but C-Section babies do not have the "privilege" of having this fluid squeezed out of them during a natural childbirth. More than you wanted to know? Sorry. I'll try to keep this light. Sam is likely going to be in the NICU for a couple of days, but it's only precautionary. No worries. He'll be fine.
A note to blog readers who are thinking of visiting: Doctors have cautioned us against visitors who are sick or have recently been sick. Tomorrow, they're going to let Sam visit us here in the room occasionally, but as a precaution, they obviously don't want Sam to be exposed to any illness. They've said that this is a precaution mostly for the other babies in the NICU. They don't want Sam to bring any illnesses back into the NICU after he's done visiting with us. If you plan on visiting tomorrow or Sunday, please keep this in mind.
Jennifer is doing okay. She's in considerable pain which is understandable since she was sliced open, and a baby (plus a bunch of other stuff that I won't describe in detail) was ripped from her insides. ( I think I saw too much. I may have Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder.) Jennifer is fighting the pain like a champ, a champ with an I.V. Morphine drip.
Thanks for reading our blog and taking an interest in our lives. Keep checking back in for updates and more pictures.

Just a Random Update...
Hello Everyone. I, Matt, will be handling the blogging today.
I apologize on Jenn's behalf for the lack of pictures lately. Jenn has been extremely busy getting ready for Sam's arrival. I know why readers of this blog check in periodically, and it sure isn't to read my literary musings. So without further ado, here's a random picture of Anna hanging out in the backyard...
There hasn't been too much excitement to write about lately...except for the new addition to our family! That's right. I'm talking about our new TV! We haven't picked out a name yet, but we love her very much. She's wonderful. We spent all weekend watching LSU baseball over the internet and movies in HD. Good times.
Here's some news to report...Shelby lost 40 lbs...of hair. Jenn indiscriminately told the groomer to "shave her." Well, we got our money's worth. Oddly enough, they left the tail alone. Now she's one odd-looking beast.
Well, there are five days left till Sam's arrival. Before his pictures start to dominate the blog for awhile, here are a couple more pictures of my adorable little girl.

A New Birthday
Well, I went to see Dr. D today and the first thing she said when she walked in was, "Can you be pregnant one more day?" NOT something I wanted to hear. She can't do the section on the 4th so now he will arrive on the 5th. This morning when I woke up I had 2 weeks and 6 days left, and now I have 3 whole weeks. But who's counting :) Matt was excited because there wasn't really anybody famous born on the 4th for Sam to share his special day with. Stinker shares a birthday with Abe Lincoln. That is hard to beat. I just looked it up and June 5th is the birthday of Kenny G! Eww! Maybe I can't be pregnant one more day...

Elmo?
Matt and I got a good laugh out of this so I thought I would share it with ya'll...
So last night Stinker didn't want to go to bed and we let her stay up. She took a three hour nap so it wasn't shocking that she was still rolling at 8:30. She was up on the bed with Matt and I and we were asking her to say words like daddy, mama, bubbles...her usual vocabulary. I pointed to Matt and said, "Who's that?", she of course says "daddy". He points to me and asks her who I am and she says "mama". We go back and forth like this and finally I point to Matt and ask again who he is and she thinks for a moment and says "ELMO!" and falls back on the bed laughing hysterically like she had just told the best joke ever. What a STINKER!! She cracks us up!

HOT!! and other updates...
Whew!! I am 4 weeks away from having this baby boy and being 20 degrees cooler!! Today playdate was at Kinley and Jaxon's house and we took the kids out to play. I have been inside for an hour now and it feels like I just came in. We had fun though- and I think Stinker is down for a good long nap :)

Out of everything there is to play with in the Coleman's backyard the hit was the tub of balls because there was water in it. Shocker!!
Anna did pretty good, but she still isn't thrilled about walking in grass. If she falls down she has to touch it and that is just no good. I don't know where she gets that from :) She is supposed to go for her 15 month check up next week, but I am thinking of cancelling it. She doesn't get shots and now just isn't a good time to take a healthy baby to the doctor and end up with swine flu!! We will just go at 18 months before she goes to school. She is really talking more and more these days. She says: Daddy, bubbles, baby, Mama, juice, duck, up, and shoes on a regular basis. If she is tired and you ask her if she would like to go night night she will walk to her room waving at us, stand in front of her crib and say "noo noo" which is noonie, and go to bed. She is very helpful as far as picking things up off of the floor and giving them to me. When it is just us at home she is pretty good at following directions. Her latest swat worthy action is poking Shelby in the eye. Although the last swat she got for it seemed to do the trick! Shelby has been very good with her. You would think a finger to the eye would be the final straw, but she just sits there and takes it. I think she secretly likes to see Anna get in trouble! Other than occasionally trying our patience Matt and I could not be more proud of our little girl. She amazes us every day, and we can't wait to see what new adventures Sam will bring to our family.
