Neighborhood Pool Fun

While Mommy is away, Daddy took the kids to the neighborhood pool for the first time this year.  You can really see how Sam has learned from his swimming lessons.  The child is fearless.  He refused to wear his floatie, and he just wanted to jump in the pool over and over again.  He even took several trips down the slide!  Anna still likes to take it slow.  She had a good time putting around in her panda floatie.  I have a feeling that she'll be done with that thing by the end of this Summer.

Water Day

It was Water Day at the kids' school yesterday.  The school set up all kinds of things that spray, squirt and soak.  With Mommy out of town, Daddy had the good fortune to witness the festivities.

Here's a picture of Sam playing in the giant bubble machine:

 Then, it was popsicle time!

Sorry.  No pictures of Anna.  She doesn't care too much for unstructured playtime.  She was a grumpy little attachment to my leg for the entire hour that her classmates played.  Instead of playing with friends, she preferred sitting on a step in the shade.  I think she may have inherited her Daddy's wallflower gene.

Playing in the Rain

Right after dinner, it rained.  There was no lightning, so I let the kids experience one of the simple joys of childhood, playing in the rain.  They had a blast.

Swimming at Aunt Jessie's

Summer doesn't officially begin until June 20, but we can't wait that long.  We went to Jessie's place and swam in the slightly frigid water in her pool.  Sam, thanks to his swim lessons, takes to the water like a salmon.  Anna loves the water, but still likes the safety of her panda floatie.

When it was Daddy's turn in the pool, Mimi, Jennifer, and Jessie lounged at the water's edge and soaked up all the sun's rays that filtered through the grayish skies.  When Daddy could sneak away, he enjoyed digging a sizable hole in Aunt Jessie's homemade guacamole dip and watching LSU smash Ole Miss' sorry Sunday pitching.  12-3  Geaux Tigers!

And here's another picture of Sam swimming underwater:

Samuel Proctor, Trumpet Virtuoso

This morning Sam surprised me with a serenade.  This performance was entirely unprompted.  This is a talent that he has developed and perfected entirely on his own accord.  Each day our children delight us by sharing new-found skills.
