This Weekend

This weekend we went to the pool with Anna. She loves it!! Her Aunt Jessie took her a couple of times while she was here and Anna had a ton of fun, and threw a few tantrums when it was time to get out. Matt and I wanted to see her in the water ourselves so we went in the evening right before it closed since it was so hot. We didn't want to bake Sam!

Anna gives kisses to Daddy. She is soo sweet!

Sam and I sat out and watched. Well, I watched and he slept. After all, it was still light out and Sam doesn't wake up until the sun goes down no matter how fun it is to watch his sister in the pool :)

Sam got a bath this weekend and we finally remembered to take pictures. Isn't he so cute in his little towel?

We're Not in the Hospital Anymore

If you're a loyal blog follower but haven't spoken to us in awhile, you might think that we're still in the hospital. We're not. We brought Sam home on Sunday, June 7. We just haven't updated the blog because, well, we've been busy.

Before we came home, Anna got to meet Sam in the hospital...
She was very excited to see him. She kept saying "Baby!" Of course, she can't enunciate all that well yet, so it sounded like "Bah'-bees." It was very cute.

Here we are coming up the drive, Sam's first glimpse of home.

Now that Sam is home, Anna is free to torment her little brother as much as she pleases...

Just kidding. For the most part, Anna plays nice and is very sweet to her little brother.

Now if we could just get Sam to be nice to his mommy & daddy. His shirt in this picture says it all...

Hanging Out With Sam

Today we got to spend much more time with our little boy. It was great to have him out of the NICU. He helped us root for LSU to beat Rice to advance to the College World Series. He was our good luck charm.

Sam Proctor: Man of Action...
Anna spent the whole day at home. Apparently, Grandpa Mike taught her how to do somersaults. I can't wait to see that new trick!

Secret Visit

I finally got to meet my baby boy last night! Up until 10:16 pm yesterday I had only seen him in pictures and briefly in the operating room when they held him up over the curtain. Today the nurses said they will get me into a wheelchair to go to the NICU to see him if he stays there. He is doing great though, the pediatrician says all of the labs are coming back neg. and if they are still negative today, Sam can stay in the room with me. Anyway...his nurse unhooked him and snuck him in for 4 minutes last night so I finally got to hold him! He is beautiful, and he was sleeping soundly.

Visitors Update:
Because Sam will still be spending some time in the NICU, doctors have asked us to limit visitors. We appreciate everyone's well-wishes, but please don't come visit right now. The doctors are saying that if Sam's tests come back okay today, they will discharge us tomorrow. Then, everyone is welcome to come visit at the house. Thanks again for well-wishes and support.

Our Two Babies

While I sit here in the hospital, I'm playing around with Google's Picasa program. Here's a collage of our two babies on their respective birthdays.

And here are some more pictures of our little boy today. He had a rough start to the day, but he's getting much better.

Sam Has Arrived

At 8:45 this morning, we finally got to meet our little boy! He was born 7 lbs. 3 oz. 19.75 inches long. Sam made his way into the world kicking and screaming...lots of screaming.

Here is what he looked like fresh from momma's belly:

Overall, he and Jennifer are doing fine. Sam is having some slight complications that are normal for babies that are born by C-Sections. He had low oxygen levels and some trouble breathing due to the amount of fluid in his stomach and lungs. Apparently, all babies have this fluid in their stomach and lungs, but C-Section babies do not have the "privilege" of having this fluid squeezed out of them during a natural childbirth. More than you wanted to know? Sorry. I'll try to keep this light. Sam is likely going to be in the NICU for a couple of days, but it's only precautionary. No worries. He'll be fine.

A note to blog readers who are thinking of visiting: Doctors have cautioned us against visitors who are sick or have recently been sick. Tomorrow, they're going to let Sam visit us here in the room occasionally, but as a precaution, they obviously don't want Sam to be exposed to any illness. They've said that this is a precaution mostly for the other babies in the NICU. They don't want Sam to bring any illnesses back into the NICU after he's done visiting with us. If you plan on visiting tomorrow or Sunday, please keep this in mind.

Jennifer is doing okay. She's in considerable pain which is understandable since she was sliced open, and a baby (plus a bunch of other stuff that I won't describe in detail) was ripped from her insides. ( I think I saw too much. I may have Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder.) Jennifer is fighting the pain like a champ, a champ with an I.V. Morphine drip.

Thanks for reading our blog and taking an interest in our lives. Keep checking back in for updates and more pictures.
